It’s a smart idea to advertise with pedicabs during SXSW!
Smart must have learned that, and learned about us, because of our relationship with car-sharing company car2go, with whom we advertised at past events with a pedicab custom built to look like a smart car.
Smart selected the following options for their campaign:
Full wraps for 4 pedicabs, from our Ad printing menu.
Driver-for-hire, from our Driver engagement menu. Pedicab drivers provided free rides for 8 hours per day, for four days, for a total of 128 hours. The drivers were stationed outside of the “house of smart,” also known as Edwin’s Sports Bar, to provide free rides to anyone who wanted to test drive the latest smart cars, which were located a parking lot elsewhere in the city.
That’s what they did. The day before the campaign officially began, one lucky driver (that was me!) was on-call for 12 hours. I met the CEO of Smart, Dr. Annette Winkler, and her husband; the CEO of Mercedes-Benz, Dr. Dieter Zetsche; and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Guy Kawasaki — and gave them all rides. I was very briefly featured in a Mercedes-Benz promo; Guy recommended taking a pedicab to navigate downtown Austin and hey, there’s me. It was a good day.
Their campaign is a part of our Tech, services, & underwear portfolio. (We also worked together in 2019.)
